Our Beautiful Private Villa at Sankara Ubud | Bali #3

. April 25, 2017 .
Today's Bali post is all about a very special stay we had in Ubud. Possibly the most luxury and beautiful place I've ever had the pleasure of staying in, let me introduce you to our private villa and gorgeous grounds of Sankara Resort.  Part of the Pramana Experience group, Sankara Resort is nestled in the heart of rural Ubud between rice fields and sky-scraping palm trees aplenty. The grounds themselves are equally, if not more, beautiful as the surrounding nature. The attention to detail here is what really impressed me, flowers on every step, wooden carved signs to help you find your villa and design that echoed the natural but luxury atmosphere of the resort. Upon arrival, we had found gorgeous yellow flowers upon every surface of our room – towels, bedding, bedside tables, it was so beautiful.

After a long, traffic-filled journey from Seminyak, we arrived at the resort pretty exhausted, so to have such a warm welcome from the lovely staff was wonderful. We were greeted with a refreshing ginger tea and given an introduction to the what was on offer at the resort. Another thing I loved about this place were the complimentary daily activities, from yoga to walks through the rice fields to learning how to make a traditional Balinese offering and even the option for afternoon tea. Perfect ways to start your day or make the most of some downtime at the resort.

Our bags were kindly taken for us as we made our way through the resort to our private deluxe pool villa. Up some steps was our very own private pool (complete with fountains!) and through some double doors was our gorgeous, spacious, breathtaking home for the next two nights. Al and I spent a few moments exploring the wonderful features of our villa, practically pinching ourselves! A grand king-size bed, a bathtub big enough to swim in, twin stone sinks and a bathroom kitted out with everything you could possibly need and double wardrobes housing some fresh fluffy dressing gowns that we'd later be slipping into.

By this point, we were pretty hungry so decided to head down to the onsite restaurant for some dinner. I have to say, the meals we had here were some of the best in the trip. An amazing fusion of traditional Balinese specialities and other world foods with a contemporary twist. We loved it so much we stayed in the following night and ordered room service to our patio by the pool – which was an equally lovely experience as dining in their Kumbah restaurant. Situated on the second floor above the lobby, the restaurant home to beautiful views across the resort, I loved having coffee here for breakfast in the morning – it was just so peaceful. I was impressed with all meals, but if you go for one thing here – try the Pad Thai, it was sensational.

As we were only here a couple of nights and had a couple of jam-packed days exploring Ubud, the only activity we had the chance to do was the yoga. Different to any types of yoga I've tried before, their in-house Balinese yoga instructor provided a wonderful practice incorporating meditation and challenging poses. Alice and I were lucky to have the practice to ourselves, I think thanks to the torrential rain, which actually only made the experience in the rooftop pavilion even more special.

All in all, we felt thoroughly spoilt during our perfect stay and were so sad to leave! Special thanks to Sankara for having us and to the wonderful staff who couldn't to enough for us during the stay. Visit the Sankara website to book here and check out Pramana's other locations here
