The Trend

The rise of activewear is well and truly upon us. Sports elements have been gracing the catwalks for a few seasons now, almost every high street store is launching a fitness collection (even I've succumbed to the Topshop x Beyonce hype) and it's never been so acceptable to wear your yoga pants everywhere but the gym. As much as I'm in love with my new Ivy Park leggings that are so firming I feel like Bey herself, wearing them to events and meetings in the city isn't quite so practical. Enter the sports luxe trend - the perfect hybrid between athletic details and work-wear appropriate pieces. Almost as comfortable and the best way to nail relaxed chic, for SS16 the trend is taking a step in a sleek, minimal and luxurious direction - hope you enjoy my tips on how to style it.

Pair Smarter Pieces With Something Soft

A tailored trouser like this navy pair from Me + Em keeps the look elegant whilst the stripe detail is still super sporty, for an extra athletic nod try rolling up the hem for an ankle grazing silhouette. I think suits and matching tones work really well with this trend, paired with some fresh kicks it's a smart take on the track suit. Wear your jacket undone or belted at the back, pushed up sleeves will only add to the relaxed vibe we're going for here too. Teaming these tailored pieces with an oversized soft jersey or fine loose knit like this one is the key balancing the sporty elements with the luxury.

Pay Attention To Details

With loose silhouettes, you want to hone in on the 'lux' elements like accessories. Keep it minimal - we want to avoid looking like a sprinter wearing a gold medallion. Layering fine gold jewellery will add a simple touch of luxury, that paired with a sleek should be all the jewellery you need. Bag-wise, the bigger the better, I mainly use my Louis Vuitton Never Full for the gym and I love how it looked with this outfit. I find a good pair of mirrored sunnies always works a treat with athletic looks too.

Of Course, A Good Pair Of Kicks Is Key

To me, this goes without saying. Now weather you're a Stan Smith girl like me or you like to run around in Roshe Run's, teaming your relaxed-smart look with a pair of pristine kicks is an essential way to finish off the look. Though for evening, this look would totally work with a pair of pointed pumps.

Hope this trend piece gives you some inspiration to incorporate some sports luxe into your wardrobes this season, let me know in the comments if you'd liked this style of post and if there's any other trends you'd like me to do a how-to on.

Sports Luxe: How to wear the trend

Very blazer (similar here)* | Dorothy Perkins boots & rollneck body*

Statement handbags have really been having their moment over the passed few seasons. From the mini-bag trend, muched loved by fashion week attendees - I can't tell you how many mini trunks and colourful cross body's at PFW, to statement totes and designer collabs that are just drool-worthy.

The latest addition to my handbag collection is this gorgeous Radley drawstring bag, designed in collaboration with the genius that is Jonathan Saunders. It's something a little different for me, I'm usually one for blacks and neutrals when it comes to bags and when I experiment with colour it's usually in block, so this printed orange beauty was quite an exciting change. My fears of styling such a statement piece soon evaporated, turns out this looks awesome with anything denim, black or white - so a good 50% of my wardrobe.

Adding a slice of colour to your outfit is also a great way to update your spring looks. If like me you don't yet want to let go of your black winter knits and aren't sure how to dress for this hot-one-minute-pissing-it-down-the-next weather, popping on a colourful printed handbag like this one will give your outfit the seasonal update it needs and whilst you hold on to your knitwear a little longer.

Keeping the rest of the look simple, I went for a monochrome pallet with some light wash denim. Accessorising only with some black and gold pieces to tie in with the bag's hardware, I went for these gorgeous new Feather & Stone jewellery from Question Air and my current favourite watch from Abbott Lyon (don't forget you can grab £25 off your own until Thursday with code 'LUCIA25'!). Keeping the rest of your outfit neutral is essential when wearing statement pieces, you don't want too much going on and you want the bag to do all the talking.

Hope you enjoyed today's trend feature folks! I have a few exciting this happening this week so make sure to stay updated on my Instagram (@luciagrace) and Snapchat (@lucia_grace), have an awesome week everyone.

Why Your Wardrobe Needs A Statement Bag For Spring

Notting Hill

. April 04, 2016 .

My wardrobe houses a fair few smart jackets - from navy military jackets to countless black and white styles of blazer, there's probably more than I care to admit, including a few camel coats to date. It didn't, however, have anything quite like this unique kimono belted beauty until I spotted it at the Little Mistress press breakfast a few weeks back. It's such a flattering silhouette that makes for a great spring layering piece. I paired it with a simple black roll neck, some distressed denim and my favourite lace up heels - black, camel and denim will forever be one of my favourite colour combos.

Hope you enjoyed this outfit, thanks for reading folks x
