Paris, France

Dernier jour à Paris

. August 16, 2014 .

Day three and before we knew it, it was au revoir to my favourite city. Macarons, the Eiffel Tower, the Notre Dame and escargot, we made sure we crammed as many french things as possible into our last day.

Our last day in Paris was a mix of 30 degree scorching heat and torrential down pours, hence the summer dress paired with my trench. We had breakfast in Trocadero by the Eiffel tower in Café Carrette, which hands down has the best macarons I've ever tasted. I went for salted caramel and raspberry, like little mouthfuls of heaven.
We walked over to the Eiffel in hope of going up, but as I mentioned before, Paris is heaving in August, so as the rain started we decided to head to the Notre Dame and try again later. The Notre Dame always manages to take my breath away, especially during the afternoon service when haunting hymns fill the grand building. As the weather brightened up we walked along the water form there to the Pont des Arts, where I locked on a padlock for Dave and I, it's such a beautiful place - so many love ones comes to this bridge to follow the romantic tradition, it's such a lovely atmosphere.
From there we wandered down to the Tuileries and managed to spend a good couple of hours sunbathing by the fountain before heading back to the Eiffel tower.
At  dusk, after queuing for an hour (or two), we made it to the top. It's a time of day I'd never been up before but I'm so glad we did, the view seemed even more spectacular. We could see all the light in the city start to turn on as the sun set, I need to stop using the word 'beautiful' to describe things, put Paris you really are nothing less.
After a quick outfit change back at the hotel, we finished off our last evening in a lovely seafood restaurant on the Champs Elysees and I tried Escargot (snails) for the first time, seriously the one of the best things I've ever eaten. A perfect end to a perfect 3 days, huge thank you's to Ugg Australia for helping make this such a special trip.
