LCM // La Corde Homme

. June 19, 2014 .

Theres something about menswear that's incredibly inviting, and I'm not just talking about the models. Attending my first LCM this season, I was hit with a vibe that's so much more relaxed yet just as exciting as women's fashion week.

Tuesday brought the La Corde Homme show, presenting one of the freshest collections I've seen for SS15. They're the first Chinese men's designer to debut a commercial fashion collection during London Collections: Men, so I was looking forward to seeing what they had in store.
Entitled the 'Travelling Poet', La Corde showcased an elegant and charming line for the upcoming season, incorporating the brand ethos of 'New Focus, New Life' with the profound understanding of 'The Art of Travelling'. The team took inspiration from Santorini, creating colours that emulate it's architecture and blue skies. Standout pieces for me were the jackets, there were electric blue neoprene and printed silk in bomber silhouttes, juxtaposed graphic prints on sharply tailored double breasted monochrome pieces embossed with a sun-like embroidery motif that made a recurring appearance throughout the collection. They also gave a nod to the androgyny we've been seeing a lot from in the mens shows with a select few straight skirts, but bar these the collection presented an extraordinary gentlemanly charm. See my favourite looks and detail shots below.
I unintentionally dressed my self from head to toe in Zara, something that happens pretty easily when the store takes up half of your spring summer wardrobe. I originally planned to wear my 'mannish' trouser jumpsuit but had a change of heart last minute, after battling with the intense london heat that filled my room whilst I was getting ready, and decided to go with something a bit lighter and feminine. I also went for a sleek pony tail, somethting I usually shy away from as I like to hide behind my hair a little bit, but with a bold lip I actually loved it and got a few compliments, what do you guys think- should I wear it like this more often? It certianly came in useful at one of the sweltering hot after-parties!
